The Deeper Problem
We believe that to tackle these problems we need to redesign our models of leadership – the values, mindsets and principles that influence how we shape our societies, organisations and our vision of success.
In the Western world we’ve bought into a worldview that values:
The individual over the collective – celebrating self sufficiency and
Scarcity over abundance – where everything is a zero sum game and the only way to win is to beat the competition
Control over catalysing – people are resources to be directed and controlled
Intellectual over the emotional or intuitive
Extractive over regenerative
Mechanistic over systemic – people are resources, machines are interchangeable parts of a bigger machine
We’ve created leadership models around the ‘universal male experience’ that celebrate traditional masculine traits of dominance, direction, strength, and undermine and exclude the ‘feminine traits’.
If we want to tackle the problems we see women facing, organisations and society, we need fundamentally resign our leadership models along different principles and celebrate, harness the feminine strengths we’ve devalued and excluded.
